Some walks are a week. The Alta Via are a commitment — numbered high routes that run the length of the Dolomites, linking refuge to refuge across passes, ledges and the occasional via ferrata cable. Alta Via 1 crosses from Lago di Braies to Belluno in roughly ten days. Alta Via 2, longer and more exposed, is often called the Alta Via delle Leggende.
Dolomites Trekking is where we group our long-distance itineraries: multi-day traverses for walkers who want distance and altitude rather than a fixed base.
What to expect
Every trek is self-guided. We reserve the refuges months ahead — the bottleneck on every Alta Via — and provide staged route notes, GPS tracks and maps. You carry a light pack, since half-board at the refuges means no camping gear and no food to haul.
These are demanding itineraries: six to eight hours of walking a day, significant ascent, and sections where a head for heights matters. We say so plainly rather than discover it with you at 2,700 metres.
